About Lidia & The Pattern Room
The Pattern Room is an online learning platform devoted to the craft of classic interior decoration. It brings together a short, structured course and a searchable picture reference library, so students can learn the vocabulary of a traditional room and then study the materials themselves — the textiles, wallpapers, passementerie and trimmings that give a classic interior its character.
The course moves from the foundations of pattern and scale through textiles, wallpapers, trimmings, the rules of mixing patterns, colour and palette, windows and soft furnishings, and finally the finishing room. Each lesson is brief and practical, with key points to remember and a short quiz to check your understanding. Alongside the lessons, the reference library collects fabrics, papers and trimmings with notes on how and where each is used, and a practice studio lets you try mixing patterns against simple, time-tested rules.

Lidia Morales is the founder of The Pattern Room and the designer behind moralii.com. Her work is grounded in a lifelong study of traditional interiors — the fabrics, papers and passementerie that give a classic room its quiet authority — and a belief that the principles behind them can be taught, not just admired.
She built The Pattern Room so that design students, decorators and anyone who loves traditional interiors could learn the style at their own pace, then — when a room of their own is ready to be composed — bring her in to help. From her studio in Sydney, Lidia offers bespoke interior design services for clients who want a classic room made with real materials and a practiced eye.
